How TCN Tracking Works in Florida

Published: · Updated:

After your Live Scan fingerprinting appointment, you receive a TCN — a Transaction Control Number that lets you track the status of your FDLE background check. Here's exactly how to use it and what the different statuses mean.

Receive Your TCN After Fingerprinting

A TCN, or Transaction Control Number, is a unique identifier assigned to your fingerprint submission when it is sent to FDLE. It is your receipt of the fingerprinting transaction and your tracking number for the background check.

Sky Bright LiveScan provides you with your TCN at the end of your fingerprinting appointment. Keep this number safe — you will need it to track your background check status.

Check Your TCN Status at the FDLE Portal

Visit the FDLE TCN Status Check portal at: fdle.state.fl.us/TCN-Status

Enter your TCN number and date of birth. The portal will display the current status of your fingerprint submission.

You can also access the FDLE TCN Status portal directly from the Sky Bright LiveScan homepage — look for the 'Check Your TCN Status at FDLE' link.

Understand What Your TCN Status Code Means

Pending: Your fingerprints have been received by FDLE and are being processed. This is normal and commonly resolves within approximately 2–7 business days, based on typical applicant feedback — not guaranteed; times vary by agency, case, and workload.

Processed/Completed: Your background check has been completed and results have been forwarded to the requesting agency.

Rejected: FDLE could not process your prints due to quality issues. You need to be re-fingerprinted. Contact Sky Bright LiveScan at (786) 322-3109.

Not Found: Your TCN may have been entered incorrectly, or your submission may be very recent and not yet in the system. Try again after 24 hours.

If Rejected, Schedule a Re-Print Appointment

If your TCN status shows Rejected, contact Sky Bright LiveScan at (786) 322-3109 to schedule a re-print appointment. Bring your original receipt and the rejection notice.

At Sky Bright LiveScan, we re-print rejected submissions at no additional charge when the rejection is due to print quality at the time of original service.

For your re-print appointment, follow our pre-appointment tips: hydrate well, moisturize your hands several hours before (not immediately before), and avoid heavy manual work on the day of your appointment.
