What is an ORI Number?

An ORI (Originating Agency Identifier) is a unique 9-character alphanumeric code assigned by the FBI to a specific Florida agency that is authorized to request FDLE criminal history background checks. When you are fingerprinted, the ORI code routes your results to the correct agency.

Using the wrong ORI can result in your fingerprints being sent to the wrong agency, failure to appear in your employer's or licensing board's system, and the need for re-fingerprinting.
