What Is the AHCA Background Screening Clearinghouse?
The Florida AHCA Background Screening Clearinghouse is an online portal operated by the Agency for Health Care Administration (AHCA). It stores Level 2 background check results for healthcare workers and allows AHCA-regulated employers to verify employee clearance status electronically.
The Clearinghouse eliminates the need for healthcare workers to be re-fingerprinted every time they change employers within the same regulated sector — as long as their clearance is current and maintained in the system.
Who Uses the AHCA Clearinghouse?
The Clearinghouse is used by AHCA-regulated healthcare providers, including: assisted living facilities (ALFs), home health agencies, nursing homes, adult day care centers, hospice providers, and other AHCA-licensed facilities.
Employees covered include: CNAs, home health aides, nurses, therapists, ALF administrators, and any person who has access to clients in AHCA-regulated settings.
How Does Fingerprinting Connect to the Clearinghouse?
When you get Live Scan fingerprinted with an AHCA ORI number (such as EAHCA013Z), your prints are sent to FDLE for a Level 2 background check. FDLE's results are forwarded to the AHCA Clearinghouse, which updates your clearance status.
Once cleared, your employer can see your Clearinghouse status. If you change jobs within AHCA-regulated healthcare, your new employer can look up your existing clearance — you may not need to be re-fingerprinted immediately.
How to Check Your Clearinghouse Status
After fingerprinting, you can monitor your status at the AHCA Clearinghouse portal: ahca.myflorida.com/publicrecords/backscrn_public.shtml. Enter your name and date of birth to check your public clearance status.
You can also use your TCN number at FDLE's TCN Status portal to track where your fingerprint submission stands in the processing pipeline.
